Haines

On Friday, I went to Haines...about a two hour boat ride from Juneau. The fair was going on, and one of the other tour companies set up a trip, food and beer and all! It was so much fun! I was bummed that we only had a couple hours to spend at the fair. Everyone kept saying that was plenty of time there, but I disagreed! I didn't get to have enough fair food. The fish taco I had was pretty awesome though. Haines is a cool little town. I thought it was cute. I wish we had more time to walk around there as well. We had to leave early because the weather wasn't very good that day, so we had to make sure we would make it back. Day drinking usually leads to one of two things: early to sleep...or night drinking. We kept it going by going out downtown when we got back. It was just such a fun day, totally worth the 2-day hangover I had. I maybe got 3 hours of sleep that night, and then felt awful yesterday. So when I got home from work, I took a shower and thought I would just lay down for a bit, (it was 7:45.) I then woke up at 1am so confused. Then went back to sleep until it was time to wake up for work. And I still didn't feel well! I think my body is just off. I worked soo many hours this past week, being on the dock all day..then up to the office to help out Kally. So it was nice to have that day off and have fun.

I am SO over the rainy weather. I miss the sun a lot right now. It was out yesterday for the first time in a week. But it was back to rain today. The only good thing about it...you don't have to worry about matching or looking cute, because you just have to put rain pants and a rain jacket on anyway. And now...off to bed.

song on repeat

I can be seen driving a 14-passenger Juneau Tours van around, belting this song out. I just love this song...almost as much as chocolate ice cream/peanut butter/marshmallow.

"Someone Like You"
I heard
That you're settled down
That you
Found a girl
And you're
Married now

I heard
That your dreams came true.
Guess she gave you things
I didn't give to you

Old friend
Why are you so shy?
Ain't like you to hold back
Or hide from the light

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it.
I had hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded
That for me it isn't over

Never mind
I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
"Don't forget me", I begged
"I'll remember", you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead."
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead,
Yeah.

You know how the time flies
Only yesterday
It was the time of our lives
We were born and raised
In a summer haze
Bound by the surprise
Of our glory days

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it.
I had hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded
That for me it isn't over.

Never mind
I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
"Don't forget me", I begged
"I'll remember", you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead."

Nothing compares
No worries or cares
Regrets and mistakes
They are memories made.
Who would have known
How bittersweet this would taste?

Never mind
I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
"Don't forget me", I begged
"I'll remember", you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead"

Never mind
I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
"Don't forget me", I begged
"I'll remember", you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead"

Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead

I heart AK

I can't get over the fact that this has been the most amazing summer ever. When I first made the decision to come to Alaska, I kept thinking, "how am I going to miss an entire San Diego summer?? I will miss it too much." And I had to keep telling myself that it was just going to be one summer out of my life; I would survive. Now I can't stop thinking about what I'm going to be doing this winter, before I can make it back here again. I'm so in love with this place.

I know it has been all over my Facebook, but the bubble net feeding of the humbacks seriously made my trip here. It was one of the most awesome things I have ever seen up close! I thought it was so cool just seeing whale tales and humps for so long. But seeing about 15 whales all at once, coming up out of the water with their mouths open...it's indescribable. We literally couldn't stop saying "OH.MY.GOD." I just love the nature and wildlife up here!!

Another thing to cross off my bucket list would be riding in a helicopter! It was never anything that I had a huge desire for. Until I came to Alaska. We sell the tour on the docks, so I had heard what it was about..never actually selling it myself. Yesterday was just such a beautiful day. So Monty called to see if we could get up. They said we had a good chance, so we headed over to Douglas. But then Monty wasn't able to go, but told me I still should. It was amazing!! It's expensive for the amount of time, but so worth it. It's definitely something to do once in your lifetime! We landed on the Taku glacier and it was sooo cool!

In life, I think that everyone should: see the Colosseum, go to Prague, walk through the ice caves of a glacier, see bubble net feeding, and go on a helicopter. I can't wait to blow up some pictures and frame them....for the apartment that I don't have.

I'm getting more and more confused about my future. All I know right now, is that I want to come back next summer.  But I still have 2 more months here, so I am going to enjoy them! And then I will have an amazing trip to look forward too (and already am!).

busy bee

I finally have time and energy to blog, and I don't even know what to write about! It has been so long since I blogged last. I can't even remember what has happened. All these days run together, it takes me a minute to even remember what day it is. I can't believe it's July! I've been here for 3 months! I'm actually bummed out that it's July already. This summer is flying by way to fast. I am going to be so sad when I leave :( I'm already thinking about coming back next summer. Who knows what I will be doing between the end of this summer and next summer though....

Some highlights of the past few weeks:
-today was a beautiful, sunny day-the first one in like 2 weeks! good thing, I was about to go crazy with all the rain! being on the docks for 8 hours a day isn't much fun in the rain.
-I got a haircut. and a massage.
-I actually got dressed up and went out one night. And I had a great time. (despite some drama rama. oh Juneau)
-Romeo spent the night, best. cuddler. ever.
-I went on a booze cruise for a birthday celebration
-Then wore diaper (over my clothes) into a bar.
-Later, I held Kally's hair over a turkey pan in the garage, where she insisted on sleeping.
-Celebrated the 4th of July-Juneau style. Party at the Twisted Fish, and midnight firework show.
-Caught my 2nd fish.
-Went halibut fishing and we actually caught some.
-Watched Kally and Brad filet the fish.

I guess that's it. I feel like there's so much more that has happened. But I guess this is what happens when you don't blog often enough! On the days when I get off early, I'm usually doing something. And when I get off late, I'm tired and too lazy to blog.
